Among the institutions that reduce the harmful effects of imprisonment and cause the resocialization of criminals is the electronic monitoring institution. Algeria, as the first Arab country and the second African country to use this new establishment, is one of the pioneers of using electronic monitoring systems in Islamic countries. In Australia, considering the dominance of the common law legal system, it can be seen that each state of this country has a different approach to using this governing institution, and studying these different approaches can be effective in understanding the disadvantages and advantages of this fledgling institution in order to make it useful. In Iran, the aforementioned model has also entered the criminal justice system since 2013. The novelty of using this model of punishment execution can indicate the existence of shortcomings in the implementation of this method in the Iranian judicial system. With all the positive features of implementing this model, challenges such as high cost, violation of individual privacy, lack of deterrence, etc. can be imagined in its implementation. This study, using a descriptive-analytical method and using library resources, has evaluated the conditions for using electronic surveillance in Algeria, Iran, and Australia in order to identify similarities and differences, and to introduce the advantages and disadvantages of each. Finally, the present study, by examining the implementation of the electronic surveillance system in the aforementioned countries, offers suggestions such as training the authorities and creating a medical record when using this method, etc.
